Highlights:

  • Cruise from Santiago, Chile to Buenos Aires, Argentina in February
La Boca District Buenos Aires
Straits of Magellan

Magellanic penguins. Gulf of San
Matios on the Argentinian Coast

  • We returned from our cruise on March 4 just in time to witness the start of the COVID epidemic in the U.S. Many of the passengers on the cruise ship, were on a round the world tour and most elected to only go as far as Capetown, RSA and return home.
  • On the cruise I started to feel stressed walking upstairs or walking up higher altitudes outside.  Upon my return I scheduled an appointment with my cardiologist and he had me take a stress test.  He didn't like the results and had me scheduled for a stent implant.  Well a stent wasn't going to do the trick so I was immediately rushed into the operating room where the Doctor proceeded to perform a quintuple bypass surgery.  It was Doris' birthday, but of course, she couln't visit me because of COVID.

  • Patriots Point re-opended May 15.

  • I can't remember when I started playing tennis again, maybe July according to emails, but we were required to wear masks to/from the courts and hand sanitizers were everywhere.
  • Another diufferent routine we had to get used to was watching Sunday mass on TV.  The 9:00 a.m. mass at St. Mary's was televised or available on line so we got accustomed to that for quite a while.  As for St. Vincent de Paul my volunteer work as a second ceased.
  • Charleston Jazz didn't start up again until February 2021 and that was with outdoor concerts.  Forte Jazz club started up again in November with performances on Thursday-Friday-Saturday nights.
  • Annual Christmas dinner was deferred due to COVID and we ended exchanging gifts in the garage.
