2 025 Year in Review  Highlights: January 9 we watched the funeral of President Jimmy Carter who passed away on December 29, 2024 at the age of  100.  I had the opportunity to meet President Carter when I volunteered at the Democratic Convention in San Francisco in August 1984.  He was very warm and engaging and shared his thinking that his presence was not important to the party.  He will be most remembered for his post-presidential work with Habitat for Humnaity, his travels around the world promoting democracy and as the recipient of the 2 002 Nobel Peace Prize. On January 9 Gary Snyder the leader of our Breakfast group invited us over to his house for Pizza and to watch the Notre Dame vs. Penn State college football Orange Bowl game and college football Semi Finals.  Notre Dame ended up winning 27-24 in an exciting game and went on to meet Ohio State in the final championship game losing 34-23.   2 024 Year in Review Highlights January 24 attended a Daniel Island Community Speaker's event at the Daniel Island club featuring speaker Alex Pelbath, U.S. Air Force Colonel (retired) who was the commanding officer for the mission charged with evacuating all U.S. military and civilian personnel from Kabul, Afghanistan in August 2021. Despite the chaos the air force was able to evacuate 124,000 people but still left people behind. The tragic departure was embarrasing and disturbing to say the least. February 2 Forte Jazz featured the Big Band sound of Sinatra and other crooners conducted by our friend Frank Duvall. Frank is the bassist with the Charleston Jazz orchestra and also plays piano where we first met him at Charleston Place and his trio played at our wedding. In addition to teaching at the College of Charleston he has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Eckstein, Buddy Greco and Marian McPartland. We celebrated my 81st birthday at Maison, March 19. After 18 years...

2 022 Year in Review On a sad note my brother Eddie passed away on Sunday January 23, 2022 after a long illness fighting COPD, heart arrhythmia and cancer. Eddie didn't want a big funeral and donated his organs to science. We did hold a memorial for Eddie on Sunday, June 5 at the San Carlos American Legion Hall where he used to frequent. Many of his friends from South City high school attended as well as his neighbors from his veterans housing complex and expressed their condolences. Pat Canavan, John Penna, Jim Dombrowski and Christine's husband had prepared eulogies. We also invited relatives and friends, including the receipent of the Eddie Booth Scholarship, and his father to attend a Giants game on Eddie's birthday June 7th in our own premium suite.
